We believe that Latinas who are interested in, are in the process of becoming, or are established lawyers can be supported, inspired, and uplifted by a network of other Latina Lawyers who are committed to creating opportunities for growth, development, and connections so that together we can thrive in the field of law.

DID YOU KNOW, Latina Lawyers are the most underrepresented demographic of any racial or ethnic group of attorneys compared to their presence in the national population?  

Somos Latina Lawyers (“Somos”) is recently formed as a 501(c)(3) dedicated to serving the Latina legal community.  We strive to provide Latinas with professional development, mentorship programs, CLE and more.   

TO DO THIS, we are planning the Inaugural Somos Latina Lawyers Symposium on April 20, 2023- a half-day CLE hosted at South Texas College of Law to discuss the issues before Latina lawyers and to provide networking opportunities for the Latina legal community. 

We are so excited to have the Honorable Esther Salas from the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey as our keynote speaker.  Judge Salas has led the charge to pass legislation to help shield judges’ personal information online following her son’s death at the hands of a disgruntled lawyer who came to her New Jersey home in 2020.  More information about Judge Salas’ efforts can be found here.   Check out the tentative program for the Symposium.
